The Council

The Mayor of Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council for 2006/2007 is Councillor Jim Hamilton (pictured above) and the Deputy Mayor is Councillor Michelle O'Neill.
The Council adopted the D'Hondt system in 2001 which allows for the position of Mayor and Deputy Mayor to be allocated according to party size.
There are 22 elected members who represent the Dungannon and South Tyrone Area - 9 Sinn Féin, 5 DUP, 4 UUP, 4SDLP
The Council meets on the second Monday of each month at 7.30 pm.
The Organisation
The Council has direct control of a wide range of local services as well as having a consultative and representative role in relation to wide public service provision in the Borough.
