Cinema Licensing

Premises used for the public exhibition of films are required to be licensed under the Cinema (NI) Order 1991. It is the Council's responsibility to ensure that the premises are well-constructed and managed so as to enable patrons to enjoy facilities in safety and comfort.

Applications may be for the grant of a license, its renewal or transferral. Application particulars will include drawings, certificates and prescribed fee. The proposals will be assessed after consultation with the Fire Service and Police. Issue of approvals is usually subject to certain works being carried out and adherence to the Council's conditions of license.

The conditions of license are to ensure acceptable standards of health and safety within the premises and that persons living nearby are not unreasonably disturbed.
